The Committee stated that technical transition to the common European currency took place as planned, without any major problems. Today, the most important processes of the transition have finished successfully.
The head of the Committee, Tea Varrak, acknowledged the heads of the workgroups for a job well done. “Transition to the euro is one of the biggest projects in the past few years in Estonia,” Varrak said. “I’d like to specifically emphasise nationwide cooperation between government institutions, companies and organisations of the third sector. The smooth currency changeover was backed up by a concerted effort. I thank people all over Estonia who helped to prepare the introduction of the euro.”
The Committee will submit a final report concerning the technical organisation of transition to the Euro to the Government of the Republic in February.
