40% of Estonian Population Supports the Changeover to the Euro

A public opinion survey conducted in March revealed that the adoption of the euro in Estonia is more favoured by men, people under 51 years of age and people with higher income.
People are of the opinion that the benefits of the changeover would mainly include more comfortable travelling opportunities to the euro area countries.

It also became evident only a third of the population are aware of the fact that after the €-day Eesti Pank will exchange kroons for euro for an unlimited period of time.
The attitude of people regarding Estonia's membership in the EU has remained on a stable level - 68% in March.

1,000 Estonian residents aged 15 to 17 were questioned over the telephone in the course of the Omnibus survey conducted by TNS Emor. 768 of them were citizens of Estonia eligible to vote. The poll was commissioned by the State Chancellery.
