The Euroweb intends to provide information about the adoption of the single European currency, the euro, in Estonia. This site includes information about cash exchange, price rounding, exchange rates as well as details regarding contracts and accounting. From the Euroweb you will find information about the current status of the euro changeover:

-         On 12 May, the European Central Bank and the European Commission assessed Estonia’s readiness to join the euro area; see the convergence report of the European Commission (.pdf) and the convergence report of the European Central Bank (.pdf) .

What should I know about the euro changeover?  

  • Estonia has set a goal to join the euro area as of January 1, 2011.
  • The euro will be adopted according to the “big bang” scenario, which means that account money will be exchanged into euros on the €-day at the central exchange of Eesti Pank, which will most likely be confirmed by the respective decision of the EU Council in July (the exchange rate is 1 euro = 15.6466 kroons).
